Heidi Troutman
Producer
“Hello everyone! My name is Heidi Troutman, and I am a DMP student in my fifth year at Kent State! I am so excited to be working on this film to create a clearer path for me once I graduate in a year! I want to expand my knowledge in the world of producing and maybe learn a plethora of other skills while making this film. This is unlike anything that I have created in the past, so I can’t wait to see where this film goes! Hope you all enjoy!”
James Plested
1st Assistant Director
"I consistently work on video projects with a knack for logistical roles, and I'm graduating soon from KSU. I recently produced my capstone film, Brain Fog, a film we're excited to show off. I also recently produced/directed a short documentary, Vital Pages, outlining recent threats to public libraries. Currently interning with a Cleveland video-production studio, Black Valve Media, I'm working towards a career in the film industry, aiming for logistical roles such as AD department and producing work."
Griffin Arnold
Director of Photography
"Hello! I’m Griffin Arnold, a senior at Kent State University. Originally going to school for music education, I pivoted my career towards film as they combine visuals and music into this wonderful artistic package. My focus led me towards the path of a camera operator and I have had the pleasure of working behind the camera on a number of sets in Northeastern Ohio and LA."
Ian Barter
Art Department Coordinator, Set Carpenter
"Ian Barter is a current Kent State Theater Technology, Production, and Design major with a focus on scenic design and props. He hopes to work in both live theater and film or tv productions. He enjoys working with directors to help bring a story to life through distinctive visuals; his theater background and training affords him a plethora of techniques and tools to create convincing settings that uplift the characters and story working inside of them."
Beets Barlow
Wardrobe Supervisor
"I'm Lily 'Beets' Barlow, a graduate from Douglas Education Center. During my time at Douglas Education Center, I was able to dual-track the Tom Savini's special makeup effects, taking both animatronics and fashion and performance. I was drawn to special effects because it uses multiple different art mediums, tools, and techniques. I like to say I'm a hobby hoarder and that I'm always looking for new skills to learn. I just love the challenge and puzzle of figuring out how to bring whatever props, makeup, characters, and costumes to life!"
Jack Johnson
Sound Supervisor
"I am a graduate of Kent State University's DMP program, specializing in location sound and sound editing. A musician first, I have migrated into the film sound world and have found it is something that I love to do. I am excited for the opportunity to edit the audio for SpitShine and help bring the world to life with sound."
